York, ME in American History: Two Tide Mills Installed Upon A Branch Of The York River

A survey of all the mills within the Maine region taken in 1682 reveals that of the five active mills, two were managed by Littlefield’s. Kittery, Saco, Cape Porpoise, Black Point were included in the list of enterprises. 

In York, ME, according to the same survey, there were two mills, one that was referred to as Mary Sayward's, which had been established by her recently deceased husband, Henry Sayward.
